Link REIT has appointed former BlackRock Asia Pacific real estate head John Saunders as its Group Chief Investment Officer, and has added River Valley Green Condo to its portfolio

John Saunders, former Asia Pacific real estate head at BlackRock has been appointed by Hong-Kong listed Link REIT as group chief investment officer (CIO). Starting from 4th March next year, Saunders will be in charge of Link’s overall investment strategies, portfolio management and the strategic development of Link’s investment business, reporting to George Hongchoy, Link’s CEO.

Saunders is known for his investment track record with over 30 years of experience in the property industry. He served as head of the global real estate client business at BlackRock and was CEO of Asia and the portfolio manager of their Asian Property Funds series at MGPA prior to the merger with BlackRock in 2013. His background includes Hongkong Land where he was involved with the development and leasing of several landmark projects in Singapore and other Asian countries from 1994 to 1998.

Link REIT has invested in multiple assets abroad, including the Singapore’s River Valley Green Condo. In addition, their portfolio also include two other Singapore assets that were recently sold in December for $2.16 billion to Link REIT. Unitholders’ units in Link REIT closed unchanged at HK$42.55 ($7.25) on the HKEX on Dec 20.

Having held positions at BlackRock, MGPA, and Hongkong Land, his knowledge and experience will be an asset to Link REIT’s next investment move – the River Valley Green Condo.
